Our organization is in search of a talented and committed Physician Assistant (PA) to become part of our exceptional Cardiothoracic Surgery team . This full-time role encompasses responsibilities in both inpatient care and multidisciplinary coordination , providing a unique chance to engage in a high-acuity surgical environment while also playing a vital role in broader hospital medical services.

Key Responsibilities:Cardiothoracic Surgery & ICU Duties:

• Deliver care to critically ill patients in the Cardiothoracic ICU , including those on ECMO, Impella, IABP, and CRRT .
• Act as first and second assist during cardiothoracic surgical operations, which include:
• Endoscopic vein harvesting utilizing Terumo or Hemopro systems.
• Endoscopic radial artery harvesting .
• Execute bedside procedures such as:
• Thoracentesis, central/arterial line placement, and chest tube insertion/removal.
• Temporary pacing wire removal and other advanced interventions.
• Oversee preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative care, including consultations and discharge planning.
• Conduct daily rounds, document progress notes, and spearhead care coordination efforts.
• Work closely with cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, anesthesiologists, and nursing teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

General Inpatient Medical Management:

• Perform thorough patient assessments and physical examinations .
• Order and interpret laboratory and imaging tests; create and modify treatment plans as necessary.
• Prescribe medications and therapies in line with current clinical guidelines.
• Engage in the care of patients on inpatient consult services , including those admitted under Surgery, Medicine, Trauma, Pediatrics, and Ob/Gyn .
• Assist with emergency and inpatient evaluations, triage decisions, and follow-up care.
• Educate patients and their families regarding procedures, recovery expectations, and health management strategies.

Clinical Leadership & Support:

• Act as a clinical resource and team leader during shifts to ensure effective workflow and high-quality care standards.
• Guarantee accurate documentation, coding, and billing practices.
• Manage inventory of medical supplies, prepare patients for procedures, and maintain a safe, organized clinical environment.

Work Schedule:

• 24/7 in-house coverage for the Cardiac Surgery Service with 24-hour shifts .
• Flexibility for 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts based on clinical needs.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited PA program with current NCCPA certification .
• Possess an active state PA license and prescriptive authority.
• At least 2 years of experience in a surgical or hospital-based acute care setting (CT Surgery experience is highly preferred).
• Proficient in ICU management and performing invasive bedside procedures.
• Strong understanding of anatomy, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and medical-surgical care.
• Exceptional clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication abilities.
