Staff AccountantSanta Ana, CA, US On-site Vaco $USD 36 - 42 ContractorA growing organization is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This role will support payroll-related accounting activities, including bonuses, commissions, benefits, and reconciliations. The ideal candidate brings a strong accounting foundation, hands-on payroll accounting experience, and advanced Excel skills.This position partners closely with payroll and HR teams and plays an important role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesCalculate and accrue quarterly and annual bonuses in accordance with internal policies and applicable agreementsCalculate employee commissions and related accruals with a high level of accuracyPerform benefits reconciliations to ensure balances are complete and accurateReconcile payroll activity to the general ledger and investigate variancesPrepare and track payroll-related accruals in compliance with accounting standards and internal controlsCollaborate with HR and payroll teams to support accurate and timely payroll processesPrepare recurring and ad hoc reports related to payroll, bonuses, commissions, and benefits for managementQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferredStrong understanding of payroll accounting, general ledger activity, accruals, and reconciliationsAdvanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and complex formulasHigh attention to detail and strong problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environmentStrong communication skills and comfort working cross-functionallyExperience with DayForce is a plus, but not requiredPrior experience in payroll accounting or a related accounting role strongly preferred
