Civil Project Engineer

Civil Engineer PositionWe are seeking a Civil Engineer to support technical activities on a variety of civil engineering projects for both public and private clients. Project types may range from transportation infrastructure to private land development.The Civil Engineer will be responsible for the design, planning, and oversight of infrastructure projects, including street and public utility design, site layouts, grading, drainage, transportation, and related civil engineering systems.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesProvide engineering guidance and technical support to project stakeholders and management regarding construction requirements, design modifications, and structural repairs.Utilize AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other design and drafting tools to develop accurate engineering plans and effectively communicate designs.Plan and design civil engineering systems and infrastructure, including transportation, hydrology, utilities, site development, grading, and drainage.Where applicable, provide direction and oversight to junior engineers and subordinate staff involved in design and construction activities.Develop project plans based on drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, survey reports, maps, geological information, and topographical data.Prepare and present technical reports related to projects, including environmental impact statements and right-of-way descriptions.Estimate the materials, equipment, and labor required to complete construction projects.Collaborate with architects, contractors, surveyors, and other project stakeholders to ensure projects progress according to design and schedule.Participate in or coordinate surveying activities to establish reference points, grades, elevations, and other construction-related requirements.Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety requirements, sanitation standards, budgets, and established timelines.Support the office team in successfully completing projects within established budgets and deadlines.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.Professional Engineer (PE) License required, with the ability to obtain New York and Vermont PE licenses within two years.Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience preferred, but not required.Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D 2020.Knowledge of HydroCAD is a plus.Experience preparing and submitting permit applications to local boards and state agencies is a plus.Experience with field work and site observation services is a plus.Strong technical, analytical, communication, and project coordination skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, architects, contractors, surveyors, and other project stakeholders.Physical Requirements & Work EnvironmentAbility to work for extended periods at a desk and on a computer.Ability to lift up to 15 pounds when required.Ability to travel to various project sites.Ability to access and navigate construction sites and other active job-site environments.
