ILSP Youth Specialist (Bilingual) First Place for Youth is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting foster youth in transitions to adulthood, with a focus on education, employment, and housing. About this Position The Bilingual ILSP Youth Specialist supports youth as they navigate adulthood and departure from foster care. Working in partnership with social workers, attorneys, teachers, and community service providers, this role focuses on helping participants achieve high school graduation, secure post‑secondary education, and attain employment that contributes to long‑term permanency. The position is based in San Francisco, working 10 a.m.–6:30 p.m., Monday‑Friday with occasional evenings and Saturdays. Responsibilities Build and maintain trusting relationships with youth and community partners. Provide translation during intake meetings for primarily Spanish‑speaking youth. Conduct individualized case management to help participants establish short‑ and long‑term goals in education, employment, housing, parenting, relationships, and overall health. Assist youth in securing employment, including job fairs, interviews, application submission, resume creation, and interview coaching. Coordinate with community service providers to develop and maintain employment and educational plans. Coach youth on work‑related issues, self‑advocacy, and crisis management. Facilitate or co‑facilitate workshops on vocational, educational, and career topics, both in‑person and virtual. Assist with financial aid applications and meet with special‑education staff for IEP meetings. Translate outreach materials and documentation as needed. Maintain accurate data entry, program evaluation records, and attend regular program and agency meetings. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in education or related field preferred. Fluency in Spanish (reading, writing, and verbal). Three years of experience working with at‑risk or foster youth; one year in youth career development and job placement preferred. Strong knowledge of Bay Area education and employment resources. Experience with asset‑based relationship building and youth motivation. Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and handle complex situations in a fast‑paced environment. Must pass a Community Care Licensing background check. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite; database experience preferred. Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
