Empower students and make a meaningful impact as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a supportive educational environment. This part-time opportunity allows you to work closely with students, tailoring instruction to meet their unique needs and maximize their learning potential. The contract position runs from August 31, 2026, through June 14, 2027, offering a consistent schedule of 10-15 hours per week.
Qualifications:
- Active Maryland teaching certification required
- Experience working with visually impaired students in educational settings
- Proficiency in adapting curriculum and utilizing assistive technology
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive learning atmosphere
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, individually or in small groups
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to develop and implement educational plans
- Adapt instructional materials and classroom environments to facilitate access for visually impaired students
- Conduct functional vision assessments and participate in IEP meetings
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed
- Advise and support school personnel and families in understanding visual impairment accommodations
