Pay Rate: $35.00 - $38.00/hr (Depending on Experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Die Maker to take ownership of precision die maintenance and setup as we introduce a new manufacturing capability to our client's facility in Rochester Hills, MI. While they do not manufacture dies in-house, this role requires a skilled technician to manage, inspect, sharpen, and set small progressive tooling used in high-speed precision stamping.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance cleaning, thorough inspection, and polish forms for high-speed precision stamping tooling.
• Precision set and sharpen punches and dies to maintain optimal high-speed production.
• Take complete ownership of the toolroom setup: establish and document standard setup procedures, create maintenance workflows, and actively recommend process improvements.
• Support stamping operations for small components (such as electrical components and small brackets) running on 15-ton to 80-ton presses (press tonnage driven by material thickness, not part dimensions; no automotive body or frame panels).
• Work collaboratively with remote technical support during initial launch and troubleshooting.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven background in die making, tool repair, or precision tool maintenance.
• Direct experience with small, precision progressive dies and high-speed stamping operations.
• Self-starter capable of developing and standardizing toolroom procedures from the ground up.
• Strong mechanical aptitudes, sharpening skills, and analytical troubleshooting abilities.

Special Requirements

• Initial Travel: Short-term initial travel to New Jersey will be required for training and setup support during the early stages of this implementation. Long-distance technical support will remain available throughout rollout.
