Position Overview Position Title: School Crossing Guard Location: Provo City (specific location to be discussed at interview) Hours: Part‑time; schedule discussed during interview (approximately 10 scheduled hours per week, shifts about 40‑50 minutes) Compensation Pay is paid by direct deposit per shift based on years of service with Provo City: Hire: $15.00 per shift 1 year: $16.66 per shift 2 years: $18.33 per shift 3 years: $20.00 per shift Benefits Part‑time employees may contribute to individual retirement savings plans through the City (401(k), 457, Roth IRA, and/or Traditional IRA) and receive the following: Free admission to the Provo Recreation Center, Peaks Ice Arena Public Skating, and Provo Shooting Sports Park Free Provo City Library Card 25% discount on Provo Recreation Center memberships (direct family only) Discounts from various local and national vendors Duties Assist children to and from school at designated crosswalks at your assigned post. Assist the crossing guard supervisor as needed and perform other related duties as required. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old and have your own transportation. Must be able to respond to work site twice per day and work in adverse weather conditions, heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Requires visual and hearing abilities sufficient to safely perform the duties. Must have good rapport with children. Physical and Environmental Factors Work requires exposure to all weather conditions, working in and around heavy traffic, and standing and walking for extended periods. Selection Process This is an open file posting. If selected for hire, the candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and a criminal background check. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug test results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six months.
