The College of Veterinary Medicine seeks candidates for a Tech, Ag-Vet Med position to perform general construction and maintenance of farm equipment and facilities that support routine care for animals.

Responsibilities include:

• Performs general construction and maintenance of farm equipment, structures, and grounds, including, but not limited to, fences, stalls, barns, roads, ponds, farm buildings and lawn/field care specifically repair and construction of fences.
• Perform routine tractor operations.
• May handle pesticides, herbicides, and hazardous chemicals on a team or alone.
• Provides routine animal care such as daily feeding, watering, cleaning/sanitation of stalls and barns, rotational grazing, monitoring health and safety of animals and transportation of animals to the proper location.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Level I: High school diploma or equivalent
• Level II: High school diploma or equivalent and 1 year of experience in farming practices
• Level III: High school diploma or equivalent and 4 years of experience in farming practices
• Level IV: High school diploma or equivalent and 6 years of experience in farming practices

Desired Qualifications:

• Able to repair and construct fences.
• Tractor operation.
• Experience in hay management and harvesting.
• Experience in care and well-being of livestock.

Minimum license and certifications:

• Possession of a valid driver's license upon hire. Ability to obtain a pesticide license may be required in specific positions.

Substitutions Allowed for Experience:

When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
