CNA/Risk Sitter - Day Shift - Kenner - Full Time

Responsibilities This position works collaboratively to maintain patient safety and provide basic patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. The role involves giving constant observation of patients, notifying nursing personnel of changes in behavior or status, intervening when necessary to maintain safety, communicating effectively with co‑workers, patients, families, and visitors, and performing all functions delegated by the nurse staff while adhering to policies and procedures. Qualifications Preferred: High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred: Hospital and telemetry experience. Required: Current state certification as a Nurses’ Assistant (CNA); Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 30 days from hire; Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) to be obtained within 30 days from hire. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent time management skills. Ability to work a flexible work schedule (including 24/7, weekend, holiday, on‑call availability). Job Duties Supports the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification. Maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient care area. Provides care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas. Communicates patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members, including multidisciplinary teams. Completes documentation of patient‑related tasks. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy and appropriate communication style. Performs other related duties as assigned. Physical and Environmental Demands Medium work level: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree and handling materials at a production pace. Exposure to blood, body fluid, tissue, communicable diseases, hazardous medications, and hazardous waste is part of the role.
