Beverage Manager

The Beverage Manager oversees all beverage operations throughout Broussard's, including the Empire Bar, dining rooms, courtyard service, and private events. This role partners closely with the General Manager, Executive Chef, and Front of House leadership to ensure beverage offerings complement the culinary experience while driving profitability, innovation, and exceptional guest service.

• Lead all beverage operations, ensuring exceptional execution across the restaurant, Empire Bar, courtyard dining, and private events.
• Develop and maintain an innovative cocktail, wine, beer, and spirits program that reflects Broussard's French-Creole heritage while embracing seasonal and contemporary trends.
• Partner with the Executive Chef to create thoughtful food and beverage pairings that enhance the guest experience.
• Coach, mentor, and develop bartenders, bar supervisors, and service staff through ongoing training and performance development.
• Foster a culture of hospitality, teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of wine, spirits, classic cocktails, and emerging beverage trends.
• Create seasonal cocktail menus, wine features, and specialty beverage offerings.
• Work directly with vendors and distributors to source high-quality products while maintaining favorable purchasing relationships.
• Manage beverage inventory, ordering, receiving, and cost controls to achieve budgeted financial goals.
• Analyze beverage sales, pour costs, inventory variances, and operational reports to maximize profitability.
• Ensure all recipes, specifications, and beverage presentation standards are consistently executed.
• Oversee bar cleanliness, organization, sanitation, and compliance with all health and safety regulations.
• Ensure responsible alcohol service and compliance with all local and state liquor laws.
• Assist with scheduling, labor management, and daily operational planning.
• Utilize Microsoft Excel, POS systems, and inventory software to analyze performance, manage reporting, and support operational decisions.
• Partner with the Special Events team to develop customized beverage packages and ensure seamless execution for weddings, private dining, and large-scale events.
• Resolve guest concerns professionally while creating memorable recovery experiences.
• Support hiring, interviewing, onboarding, coaching, and performance management for all beverage team members.
• Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, urgency, and QED's commitment to hospitality in every interaction.

• Minimum of three (3) years of progressive beverage or restaurant management experience, including leadership within an upscale restaurant, cocktail bar, or fine dining environment.
• Extensive knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, craft cocktails, and beverage trends.
• Proven leadership experience developing and managing high-performing bar teams.
• Strong understanding of beverage cost controls, inventory management, purchasing, and financial reporting.
• Excellent guest service, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, POS systems, inventory management software, and restaurant technology.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and high-volume service periods.

• Previous Beverage Manager or Bar Manager experience in a luxury hotel, fine dining restaurant, or destination cocktail program.
• Sommelier certification, WSET certification, Certified Specialist of Spirits (CSS), or equivalent beverage education.
• Experience developing cocktail menus and wine programs.
• Knowledge of New Orleans cocktail history and French-Creole culinary traditions.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

Mobility and dexterity to move large, heavy objects up to 100 lbs. Manual dexterity to include using kitchen utensils and handling food items. Must be able to tolerate industry standard chemicals used for cleaning and sanitizing, and be able to withstand a hot and/or close environment. Must be able to work at a fast pace, and to respond to visual and oral cues.
