Software Engineer SME - Forensic Toolkit Lead

Salary: $120,000 - 160,000 per year Requirements:

• Technical experience in software development, specializing in digital forensics and forensic tool development.
• Expert knowledge of forensic analysis techniques, file systems, data recovery, and digital evidence handling best practices.
• Familiarity with forensic standards and protocols, including compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for handling digital evidence.
• U.S. citizenship, an active Top Secret clearance, and the ability to obtain a Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance.
• Strategic planning experience, including setting a vision for a forensic toolkit and aligning its development with organizational goals.
• Demonstrated experience leading the design and architecture of complex forensic software solutions.
• Experience processing and analyzing petabytes of digital evidence from varied sources.
• Proficiency in .NET programming languages and thin-client front-end technologies.
• Extensive experience delivering forensic software in commercial cloud environments with distributed processing capabilities.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing projects across software development, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical issues to nontechnical audiences such as law enforcement officers, analysts, and government officials.
• Relevant certifications in technical architecture, software development, or forensics are preferred.
• Eight or more years of software engineering experience.
• A bachelors degree in information technology or a related field.
• Must meet applicable contract, legal, or regulatory vaccination requirements.

• Serve as a subject matter expert for forensic tool components of the codebase, provide senior-level design guidance, and lead developers in building features and resolving software issues.
• Lead the design, development, and analysis of customer operational and application systems.
• Lead system maintenance, including enhancements, bug fixes, and security improvements.
• Integrate approved bug fixes, security enhancements, and new capabilities.
• Deliver forensic tool builds through Agile processes, with incremental releases based on agreed requirements.
• Develop mechanisms to share results seamlessly with other applications using common databases, schemas, and object storage.
• Develop intuitive interfaces for discovering relationships among data collections across multiple databases.
• Establish and maintain an API that preserves backward compatibility with the original source and streamlines development and integration of new modules.
• Assess and ensure the performance and reliability of software modules and components, including analytics and database processes.
• Integrate new data types and analytical tools, techniques, and methodologies for seized media.
• Deploy and maintain software and hardware in customer environments.
• Deploy and maintain forensic tools across designated development and operational environments, ensuring compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and requirements.

We are hiring a Software Engineer SME – Forensic Toolkit Lead Developer at TekSynap. This government contract supports the ingestion, processing, and analysis of large volumes of digital evidence, with work spanning scalable applications, forensic tools, enterprise services, and hybrid cloud and classified infrastructure. Our program uses advanced analytics, cloud technologies, and Agile delivery to help investigators securely access, review, and collaborate on evidence. TekSynap is a growing technology company serving Federal Government customers.
