Position Overview TheActivity Specialistis responsible fordesigning and delivering high-qualityenrichment programming that deepens student engagement and expands learning beyond the traditional classroom. This roleleadsstructured activities withina specialized content area—such as STEM, literacy, visual and performing arts, dance, leadership development, or organized sports—while fostering creativityandconfidence among participants. Activity Specialists develop sequenced lessons and hands-on experiences that support youth development and align with21st Century Community Learningprogram frameworks.Working closely with Group Leadersand program leadership, theActivitySpecialist ensures activities are engaging, inclusive, and responsive to student interests. Through strong facilitation and subject-areaexpertise.Thisrolereports directly to theProgram Site Coordinatorand helps cultivate student voice and social-emotional growth. Key Responsibilities Design and implement structured enrichment activities within a designated content area. Develop sequenced lesson plans that build skills, encourage creativity, and promote student engagement. Deliver hands‑on learning experiences aligned with21stCentury Learning Center (21stCCLC)program standards. Create andmaintaina safe, inclusive environment that supports student exploration and skill development. Coordinate with Group Leaders and program staff to ensure cohesive and well‑aligned programming. Support students’ social‑emotional growth using positive youth development practices. Manage classroom behavior and ensure active participation from all students. Modify activities to address diverse learning styles, abilities, and developmental levels. Track student participationand attendance,maintainactivity materials, andassistwith required documentation. Attend staff meetings, program planning sessions, and professional development activities. Contribute to a positiveprogram ofculture that reflects Replications’ standards for quality, consistency, and student impact. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Education, Fine Arts, STEM, Sports Management, Literacy, Performing Arts, or Youth Development preferred, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience. DOE Fingerprinted Qualifications Demonstrated professional experience, training, or specializedexpertisein the assigned enrichment area (e.g., STEM, arts, literacy, leadership development, dance, or athletics) with the ability to translate subject knowledge into engaging youth-centered activities. Experience working withK–12inaneducational, recreational, or community-based settings(preferably within after-school). Proven ability to design and lead structured activities, deliver engaging instruction. Experience withpositive behavior managementto manage groups of students effectively. Familiarity with21stCentury Learning Centerprogram standards Demonstrated ability to work effectively withdiverse youth populations Create learning experiences that are culturally responsive, inclusive, and developmentallyappropriate. Strong verbal and written communication skills The ability to collaborate effectively withmultiple stakeholderssimultaneously Committed tomaintaininga safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all program participants Exceptional level of patience and focus to overcome challenges and achieve results.
