Lung Transplant Program Opportunity

The Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) seeks three board certified/board eligible faculty physicians (open rank) for our expanding Lung Transplant Program. These positions are located in Milwaukee, WI at Froedtert Hospital.

Build a strong academic career within a collaborative, multidisciplinary transplant team. Active involvement in evaluation of patients being considered for lung transplantation, as well as ongoing care of patients who have undergone transplant. Provide both inpatient & outpatient care. Inpatient care will focus on managing transplant candidates & post-transplant patients during hospitalization, working closely with surgery, critical care, infectious disease, & other specialty teams. Outpatient care will include pre-transplant assessments, longitudinal post-transplant follow-up, & participation in multidisciplinary transplant clinics. Balanced mix of clinical care, teaching, academic development, & research within a supportive environment committed to expanding & strengthening lung transplant services.

The Transplant Center at Froedtert Hospital offers exceptional care for adults who need heart, lung, kidney, liver & pancreas transplants. Comprehensive adult transplant programs certified by Medicare & Medicaid, offering survival rates that meet or exceed national benchmarks. A joint program of Children's Wisconsin and Froedtert Hospital, the academic medical center of the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin health network, with vital support by Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin for tissue typing & research initiatives. Representing the most comprehensive pediatric & adult transplant care in Wisconsin, the program is recognized for nationally ranked outcomes, internationally known transplant specialists, & end-stage disease management. Research: To fully optimize patient care and outcomes, Froedtert Hospital participates in national & international research studies focused on solid organ transplant. Innovative studies conducted in cooperation with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and pharmaceutical companies concentrate on discovering best practice transplant approaches & long term survival. A joint program of Children's Wisconsin and Froedtert Hospital, the Transplant Center operates with vital support by Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin for research initiatives & tissue typing. Many important breakthroughs in transplant care credited to our transplant physicians since Froedtert Hospital's program began in 1967.

The Lung Transplant Program at Froedtert Hospital is comprised of nationally & internationally renowned, dedicated group of faculty & staff with a strong commitment to clinical care. In addition to lung transplant surgeons & pulmonologists, our patient care team includes many trained lung transplant specialists to support patients & their families including: Transplant APPs, Coordinators, Psychologists, Social Workers, Dietitians, & Pharmacists. Respiratory Therapists. Pulmonary Rehabilitation Specialists.

Provide unparalleled access to cutting edge advancements in biomedical research for our patients. All faculty level providers are board certified in one or more specialties through the ABIM. 30 physician faculty members, a network of community-based physicians, and 20+ APP's. Accredited programs in cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, & interstitial lung diseases; also providing expertise in asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), sarcoidosis, lung cancer, occupational & environmental respiratory problems, pulmonary embolism, sleep disorders, and fungal & mycobacterial lung infections. Multidisciplinary Approach and Continuity of Care: Our pulmonary & critical care physicians have broad experience in the evaluation & treatment of patients with advanced lung disease, and we remain closely involved in the care of patients after a transplant.
