Quality Technician

Quality TechnicianPerform Quality Assurance Lab Testing on compounded rubber products using various testing instruments and equipment to ensure product requirements specified by Polymerics or the customer are met. Essential Functions:Routine/repetitive standing and walking within the Quality Lab to monitor instruments and ensure timely data review and recording.Set up, adjust, and operate lab equipment such as (but not limited to): Mooney Viscometer, Rheometer, Densi-Tech, Tensiometer, lab mill, curing presses, salt bath tank, lab oven, Colorimeter, lab scales, and lab computers.Prepare and test samples of manufactured products to meet customer-specified parameters. Sample preparation includes use of lab shears.Set up and weigh required chemicals for addition to materials as scheduled.Review, retest (if necessary), and accurately record testing results. Properly document any out-of-spec material issues on designated forms and logs.Complete daily procedures such as the Mill Safety Stop Checklist and Lab Checklist.Collaborate with production personnel to improve quality and resolve product-related issues, including batch certifications on the production floor (may require walking, standing, crouching, bending, and lifting).Other Responsibilities:Assist other technicians with daily tasks, including set-aside testing and special project requests.Maintain lab equipment and perform daily housekeeping to ensure a clean, professional environment.Problem-solve non-routine equipment or product quality issues.Perform Open Mill batch testing in a timely and accurate manner.Manage time effectively and perform all job-related duties as assigned.Accountabilities:Accurate and timely data entry of all test results, including the status of "ON HOLD" materials.Daily completion of the Mill Safety Checklist and Lab Checklist.Skills Required:High School diploma or GED required.Basic math, reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.Lab-related and/or industrial manufacturing experience preferred.Strong multitasking abilities, good decision-making, and problem-solving skills.Attention to detail with the ability to interpret test data and use sound judgment when evaluating materials.Comfortable working in a dirty environment with materials such as rubber and carbon black.
