The Opportunity

Climate17 is partnering with a specialist engineering consultancy seeking an experienced Grid Interconnection & Advisory Lead to support the development of its US consulting activities.

This is a senior technical and commercial position suited to someone who understands the complexities of the US electricity network and has the industry relationships to develop new consulting opportunities.

The successful candidate will work directly with developers, utilities and other energy infrastructure clients, advising on grid connection challenges while taking responsibility for building relationships, securing projects and overseeing delivery.

The position offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to help shape a growing consulting practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with renewable energy developers, IPPs, utilities, infrastructure investors and other electricity sector clients.
• Identify consulting opportunities, prepare proposals and contribute directly to securing new business.
• Provide strategic and technical advice on grid interconnection, transmission access and electricity network requirements.
• Support clients with interconnection applications, grid connection strategies, network constraints and associated project risks.
• Advise on transmission upgrade requirements, connection costs, regulatory processes and project feasibility.
• Lead consulting engagements, managing client expectations, technical scope, commercial discussions and project delivery.
• Coordinate technical specialists and review project outputs to ensure high-quality advisory services.
• Contribute to the development of new client accounts and the longer-term growth of the consulting practice.

Required Experience

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in US grid interconnection, transmission planning, grid advisory or related consulting.
• Strong knowledge of US electricity networks, utility interconnection requirements and relevant ISO/RTO processes.
• Demonstrable experience developing client relationships, identifying consulting opportunities and helping win paid projects.
• An established professional network within the US electricity sector, ideally involving developers, IPPs, utilities or engineering consultancies.
• Experience leading technical advisory projects and engaging with senior engineering and commercial stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills, commercial awareness and the ability to operate independently.

Desirable Experience

• ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SPP, CAISO or other US electricity markets.
• Grid connection and transmission-related due diligence.
• Network upgrade assessments, interconnection costs and grid access strategy.
• Utility-scale solar PV, BESS, wind, data centers or other large electrical infrastructure projects.
• Previous experience developing consulting services, client accounts or technical advisory teams.

Location & Compensation

Texas is preferred, although experienced professionals elsewhere in the United States will be considered. Some domestic travel will be required.
