HVAC Mechanic (Austin)

This position will be primarily based at our headquarters, with duties including oversight of maintenance for our other Austin-area facilities. The duties of this position require onsite presence five workdays per week. This position is within our Facilities Ops & Maintenance department. WHO YOU ARE:
You are a highly motivated professional ready to join the Facilities Operations and Maintenance team. You are a self- starter skilled in the management of HVAC for commercial building maintenance, a leader, a problem solver, and a team player.


WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The HVAC Mechanic II performs complex (journey-level) heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) mechanic work. Work involves installing, repairing, maintaining and servicing plant equipment and component parts in units such as heating, air conditioning, ventilating and power distribution systems. May train others. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.


YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:
-Overhaul and service or coordinate the overhaul and servicing of HVAC equipment.
-Repair, Service, and Maintain the overhaul and servicing of air compressors and pumps associated with HVAC equipment and systems.
-Repair and replace worn or broken parts on condensers, compressors and water and vacuum pumps.
-Repair or adjust valves, piping connections, fittings and couplings.
-Remove and install motors, thermostats, and humidistats.
-Monitor energy consumption of HVAC systems and make recommendations for increased energy efficiency in operations.
-Check gauges and perform preventive maintenance work.
-Maintain records and prepare reports on repairs and service to equipment.
-Assist in developing plans, specifications and estimates of heating, ventilating and air conditioning maintenance and renovation projects.
-Plan and oversee the installation of HVAC systems.
-Plan long-range heating, ventilating and air conditioning maintenance programs.
-Serve as a lead worker providing direction to others.
-Work from blueprints and sketches
-Diagnose malfunctioning equipment
-Prepare reports
-Communicate effectively
-Perform related work as assigned.


YOU QUALIFY WITH:
-Six months of full-time experience in the installation, service, and maintenance of refrigeration, air conditioning and/or heating equipment.
-Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
