Pride Health is hiring a Professional Coding Specialist I to support our client's healthcare facility in Remote.

Pay Range: $30-$34/hr. Pay offered is based on experience, expertise, credentialing, and education.

Duties:

We are seeking a Professional Coding Specialist I to review patient medical records and accurately translate clinical documentation into appropriate evaluation & management (E/M), diagnostic, and procedural codes for insurance claims.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review medical records following patient visits and procedures.
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4/E&M codes.
• Perform coding for inpatient, surgical, and pediatric cases.
• Identify coding and billing errors and documentation gaps.
• Apply hospital policies, payer guidelines, and government regulations.
• Resolve straightforward and complex coding issues.
• Maintain coding accuracy, productivity, and timely completion of workload.
• Communicate effectively with clinical and administrative staff.
• Work independently while collaborating with the coding team.
• Adapt to changing workflows and responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:

• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical coding.
• Experience with ICD-10 and CPT-4, including E/M coding.
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
• Experience with inpatient, surgical, and/or pediatric coding preferred/required based on assignment.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and active listening skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Education:

• High school diploma/GED minimum.
• College-level coursework or relevant experience in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• Completion of a coding course covering ICD-10 and CPT-4/E&M.

Required Certification:

• CPC-A
• CPC
• CCS-P
• RHIT
• RHIA
• Appropriate AAPC specialty certification

Preferred Certifications:

• COSC Certified Orthopedic Surgery Coder
• CEMC Certified Evaluation and Management Coder
