Custodian

The Custodian performs custodial maintenance and cleaning within the building and light grounds keeping on the building property.

Job Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred

• Able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs repetitively
• Able to walk, stand, crouch, and climb to use ladders or perform various types of manual labor
• Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to perform assigned tasks including but not limited to operating equipment used to clean floors and carpets

Knowledge

• Communicates effectively and promotes good public relations with all stakeholders
• Works with peers/supervisors in a considerate and cooperative manner and assists others when needed
• Ability to operate various equipment used for cleaning floors and carpets
• Must be able to understand and follow directions both written and verbal
• Ability to learn routine custodial duties

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Attends work every day on time and performs all duties as assigned effectively and efficiently

2. Exhibits a professional attitude and demeanor at all times in working with School Board members, school administrators, fellow employees, parents, students, and the public

3. Performs daily routine cleaning necessary to keep the facility and grounds in safe and acceptable condition

4. Cleans light fixtures, windows, walls, furniture, blinds, etc.

5. Utilizes various equipment for scrubbing, vacuuming, buffing, and waxing floors

6. Cleans, disinfects, and restocks restrooms

7. Prepares for and cleans up after events scheduled for the facility/grounds during the day and/or at night

8. Monitors use, storage, and inventory of supplies and reports needs to Custodial Manager

9. Makes recommendations pertaining to maintenance and facility's needs

10. Assists the building principal/supervisor in general security of building and general fire safety

11. Performs emergency cleaning as necessary

12. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Security Clearance: The Glynn County School System requires a criminal background check and fingerprinting on all new employees, including all substitutes and other designated employees.

Workdays: 261

Compensation Range: $28,180-$38,607 (Salary Based on Full Time)

• Salary is commensurate with experience and shift.
