Mobile Diesel Technician I The Mobile Diesel Technician I will perform DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light repairs, and other duties as assigned. The technician works independently in the field, manages parts inventory, and collaborates with Mobile Diesel Technician II or higher to learn advanced mechanical skills and diagnostics. Duties Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentiators, and related systems. Independently manage parts inventory; reconcile company‑issued service truck parts periodically. Operate the company‑issued service vehicle, perform safety checks, and conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections. Listen to clients and customers to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations. Prioritize concurrent tasks and allocate time effectively. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Document work on Repair Orders (RO) using the company‑issued iOS device and TRAIT application, uploading pictures and parts information. Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner. Work independently and manage own daily schedule. Maintain high productivity and meet or approximate standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved vendors as needed. Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone for repair estimate approvals and purchase order inquiries. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT. Maintain the company‑issued service truck and perform safety checks and daily inspections. Requirements High School Diploma or GED and up to 2 years of related experience. Supply personal hand tools required for job duties. OEM training and certifications preferred. Complete all company‑required training. Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical. Submit a current DOT medical card with more than four months remaining; otherwise, a DOT physical is required. Be at least 21 years old. Hold a valid state‑of‑residence CDL‑B driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File. Required Certifications ASE T8 (PMI) certification (or obtained within 18 months). Preferred Certifications ASE T4 (Brakes) certification. Skills & Abilities Understand the implications of new information for current and future problem solving and decision making. Lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy labor. Exert physically over long periods, including repetitive tasks. Communicate information succinctly and organize messages clearly, engaging in two‑way communication. Determine the type of tools and equipment required. Compensation Hourly pay rate: $24.09 – $36.11 per hour, varying by location and candidate qualifications. Additional compensation may include commissions and incentive programs.
