Nurse Technician job at START Center for Cancer Research. Texas. While Academic Medical Centers conduct 80% of cancer trials, those trials reach only 20% of the patient population – leaving the majority of patients who are treated in community practices and hospitals without access to a clinical trial when their care journey calls for one. START serves the many by bringing cancer trials to physicians and their patients in community hospitals and practices when hope is needed most. Essential Responsibilities Assist professional nurses and/or physicians in conducting examinations. Discuss patients' condition with nursing team. Draw blood and obtain specimens for clinical labs and research labs. Take vital signs. Perform ECGs. Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments and explain procedures. Record necessary information for review by nurses or physicians. May assist with clinical research or perform other specialized duties requiring supplemental training. Inventory and requisition supplies and instruments. Set up equipment and prepare medical exam rooms. Prepare charts and lab requisitions for the next clinic day. Other duties may be assigned at any time. Required Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED. Preferred Education and Experience 1 year of experience. Previous oncology and/or clinical trials experience. Current BLS certification. Physical & Travel Requirements Able to perform manual tasks that require the use of fine muscle motor skills. Able to lift 60 pounds. Able to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods. Able to freely bend/stretch. Able to access, input and retrieve information from computer.
