Description:
The CT Technologist performs computed tomography (CT) procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or licensed provider for the diagnosis of disease and injury.
This is done in accordance with established protocols.
Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following standards and procedures.
Demonstrates an understanding of radiation dose reference levels and radiation dose monitoring.
Takes appropriate action if the estimated dose exceeds set reference levels, which may include patient follow-up.
Understands and properly uses point of care testing for obtaining creatinine levels.
Utilizes effective communication techniques to identify patient service requirements and ensure correct exams are performed.
Instructs and communicates with patients and their families about the test to be performed.
Assesses the patient's ability to tolerate the exam.
Prepares patients and the area for procedures by positioning patients and adjusting equipment controls.
Adheres to safety requirements, infection-control protocols, and radiation policies.
Uses proper sterile techniques when setting up and performing invasive procedures.
Maintains hand hygiene requirements throughout the process.
Maintains equipment and the work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards.
Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment.
Reports any issues to management.
Assists in maintaining inventory of supplies.
Screens individuals entering the department according to approved policies and procedures.
Obtains, verifies, and maintains all relevant documentation such as requisition/chart and patient history.
Maintains medical imaging records according to department policies.
Performs high-quality CT procedures in a timely manner according to exam protocols.
Explains procedures clearly to patients to help alleviate their concerns.
Provides services in a timely, accurate, and cost-efficient manner in compliance with standards and policies.
Performs tasks independently without routine oversight.
Maintains a calm and helpful attitude, even under stress.
Takes appropriate steps to resolve issues.
Effectively administers first aid and utilizes emergency equipment when needed.
Ensures customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service.
Demonstrates continued education and knowledge appropriate for caring for various age groups.
Serves as a preceptor to provide quality training to new team members on new services and initiatives.
Takes call if required.
