We provide Subject Matter Experts (SME) free of Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) focused on independent analysis and mission support services within the disciplines of Engineering, Counter Terrorism Operations, Management, Information Technology, Signals Analysis, Administration, Cyber Security and Linguistics.FTS has an opportunity for a Cyber Security Engineer in Chantilly, VA. The Cyber Security Engineer will provide technical and program services to the U.S. Government (USG).ResponsibilitiesSupport systems security authorization and continuous monitoring activities for assigned systemsSupport the preparation, review, and submission of security authorization packages, including SSPs, POA&Ms, and related authorization artifactsSystem Patch Management: Utilize patch deployment tools and hardening guidelines to ensure security compliance of the customer's networked and cloud compute infrastructureSystem Hardening: Apply and verify Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and vendor hardening guides to secure operating systems and applicationsVulnerability Scanning & Remediation: Conduct regular vulnerability scans to detect vulnerabilities and developer & implement remediation actionsCloud Security: Experience with cloud-based patching and hardening techniques leveraging commercial cloud provider tools and best practicesSecurity & Configuration Management: Implement security controls (e.g. VLANs, firewall rules, and encryption) to protect network systems and dataRisk Management: Analyze vulnerability scan findings to identify risks, develop remediation plans, and track progressDocumentation: Maintain security documentation, including system baseline, hardening procedures, and all hardware software changesTrack systems risks, assessment findings, POA&M activities, and remediation status to ensure timely resolutionFacilitate recurring stakeholder meetings and provide compliance status updates, reporting, and risk summariesCollaborate with partners to enhance security posture and best practices across a federated networkRequired Skills/QualificationsTS/SCI with polygraphBS STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) in engineering discipline9+ years' relevant experienceInformation security certification: Security+, CISM, or CISSPExperience with vulnerability assessment tools (Nessus, ACAS, or SCAP)Experience with scripting languages for automating patches and hardening tasksKnowledge of NIST Risk Management Framework (RFM)Critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skillsInterpersonal and communications skills for written reports, group discussion, and oral presentationsDesired Skills/QualificationsMS STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) in engineering disciplineCertifications: Cisco, AWS, or MicrosoftKnowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and firewallsProficient skills and experience work in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environmentProficient skills using JIRA and ConfluenceKnowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience in one of more of the following:R&D of satellite ground technologies and systemsSystem acquisition, design, development, integration, test, and/or flight operationsSmall Satellite (SmallSat) systems (single vehicles, clusters, and/or constellations)Expected Salary Range: $149,000 - $170,000 per year. Placement within the range is determined by qualifications, job-related criteria, experience, internal equity and market considerations.
