An established multi-office law firm seeks a business litigation associate to join their dynamic team in Columbia, SC.

 

EXPERIENCE:

• Business Law, Real Estate, Transactional work, and/or employment law
• Insurance Defense is a must
• Draft and file complaints in state and federal court
• Draft discovery inquiries and responses
• Draft motions and responses including motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgement and discovery motions
• Take and defend witness depositions including expert witnesses
• Act as lead counsel or second-chair at state and federal court hearings & trials
• Handle the administration part of maintaining, updating and keeping track of important legal documents in the client’s file
• Draft various contracts, agreements, and manuals for employer clients
• Assist in trial preparation including witness and client preparation; exhibit control, and witness management.
• Help marketing the firm and your position to create new business for the firm

 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Litigation experience from 4+ years
• Portable book of business
• Excellent persuasive writing skills
• Strong negotiation skills
• Exceptional organization and time management skills
• Possess a thorough knowledge of state and federal civil procedure rules
• Enthusiasm for continuing legal education
• Technology savvy
• Persuasive communication skills that will help in building trust and broadening the client base
• Accuracy in the delivery of quality legal work product
• Exceptional client skills in creating positive relationships
• Strong management skills of non-lawyers
• High ethical standards
• Have an interest in understanding the business end of the practice of law
