Responsibilities Performs skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of air, gas, water, and waste disposal systems. Performs tasks in water/fuel operations at McEntire Joint National Guard Base, assists other trades, makes emergency and general repairs, and adjusts facilities. Conducts inspections, plans layout and installation, assembles pipe sections, tubing, or fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, soldering, brazing, or welding equipment. Installs pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances such as dishwashers or water heaters, or fixtures such as sinks or toilets using hand or power tools. Fills pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observes pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks. Engages in pipe cutting, preassembly, or installation of plumbing systems or components. Tests circuit breakers, electrical systems, or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring of water circulation pumps, water meters, water heaters and other equipment or fixtures using testing devices. Knowledgeable on all water distribution systems, backflows/cross‑connection, fire hydrant testing, oil‑water systems, septic tank, fuel system upkeep, and outfall watershed maintenance. Keeps records of work assignments based on job specifications and local building codes. Knowledge of safety practices, tools, equipment, materials and supplies used in the designated trade. Ability to comprehend and follow instructions, blueprints, plans, and specifications, perform arithmetic, and communicate effectively. Qualifications & Requirements A high school diploma and extensive trades experience directly related to the area of employment. Knowledge of facility/infrastructural plumbing systems, water/sanitary sewer/storm water concepts, and application skills. Ability to perform heavy manual labor, use judgment and initiative to complete routine work without constant supervision, work in extreme weather conditions (hot or cold), use a scissor lift, lift 70 lb., and perform heavy labor. Some overnight travel/training may be required. Position involves on‑call and call back/emergency on‑call responsibility.
