Job Description The LPN, under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or other specified health care professional, participates in patient care commensurate to Scope of Practice. We are open to a LPN working in a full time, part time or even PRN capacity. Scope of Practice Performs basic nursing care to patients by following established standards and procedures. May perform specific nursing care as it relates to specialty of the practice. Collects patient data such as vital signs; notes how the patient looks and acts, or responds to stimuli, and reports this information accordingly. Prepares and administers injections, performs routine tests, treats wounds, and changes bandages. Prepares patient records and files using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices. Administers medications within scope of license, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response. Participates in the implementation and evaluation of patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations. Monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response. Conveys information to patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions. Participates in teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes. Administers medications, IV therapy, blood draws and laboratory testing and resulting. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing program. Current/valid Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse from the state licensing board. Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Additional specialty certifications if applicable; may need IV certification. Preferred Qualifications One (1) year experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing setting. One (1) year specialty clinic experience. Essential Functions Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts. Knowledge of basic nursing processes and understanding of health care technology, equipment, and supplies. Familiarity with state law on nursing care, nurse practice guidelines, and clinic policies and procedures. Ability to effectively communicate to staff and patients. Demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations. Maintain a positive, caring attitude towards patients. Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism. Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequently interact with patient care providers, patients, and visitors requiring verbal communication as well as hearing and understanding spoken information quickly and accurately, especially during emergency. Manual dexterity to manipulate complex equipment with precision and accuracy, including frequent computer use and typing. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients; bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment up to and including heavy items. Must walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment; include pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment. May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time. Location Holy Rosary Hospital, Miles City, Montana Schedule and Compensation Scheduled weekly hours: 36. Hourly rate: $26.47 - $40.87 (dependent on experience).
