Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 22 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience worked in the last 12 months.

• Travel experience is preferred.

• Experience with Epic is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Ohio license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <60 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• 6 months gap required between for Any Contract Type at Program: Aya Program - James Cancer Hospital and Research and no current placement allowed at Program: Aya Program - James Cancer Hospital and Research.

Additional Details:

References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years. You must be able to complete labs within 48 hours of signing.

Required Skills/Experience: 2 yrs inpatient nursing experience required. PCU experience not required; travelers will only care for MS/tele patients and can pass with MS/tele experience only in work history. Acute care experience must be current/today, working consistently in the last 12 months, and in the specialty with which they are applying.

Preferred Skills/Experience: 2 years of oncology experience preferred, but not required. Teaching hospital experience is preferred.

Required Credentials: Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program.

Special Requests: Cannot apply to any James Cancer Hospital & Research facilities if you have an active application to any of the Ohio State University facilities.

Unit Details: Mixed acuity PCU/MS Tele unit caring for medical oncology patients. Adult and geriatric patient population. Variety of diagnoses from solid tumors to some blood cancers. High acuity patient population. Chemotherapy competence is not required for the unit. Pediatric patients are extremely rare and would likely be cared for by permanent staff. Ratios: PCU is 1:3, MS Tele is 1:4-5. Uses B450/GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, continuous bladder irrigation, and PCA pumps.

Shift & Scheduling: If you accept a 12D/N rotating contract, you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both, depending on the department’s needs. Day shift 07:00-19:30; night shift 19:00-07:30. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed and are based on staffing priorities at that time. Weekend shifts are variable.

Floating Requirements: Required to float to other MS/Tele units of equivalent or lower level of acuity.

All time off requests must be submitted at application. Scheduling requests must be worked out with the manager directly upon starting the assignment. Any offers for this job will require a clear “Yes” or “No” response from the nurse within 24hrs or the offer must be declined.
