Job Summary As an Aircraft/Avionics Technician at Kratos Unmanned Aerial Systems (KUAS), you will install, test, troubleshoot, and repair avionics systems wiring in aircraft according to technical specifications, engineering instructions, and DoD regulations. You will fabricate, install, and test installation, routing, clamping, and wiring harnesses, read wiring diagrams and blueprints, and assemble or fit parts to form sub‑assemblies and complete units. Responsibilities Fabricate, assemble, install, repair, modify, test, operate, and troubleshoot avionics/electrical modules, components, and wire harnesses. Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and engineering drawings to install wires and electrical components in assemblies. Conduct fault isolation and testing of aircraft instruments and systems, including automatic flight controls, inertial navigation and compass systems. Apply quality management system (QMS) procedures and safety directives, and use the Tool Accountability System (TAS) for tool control and hazardous material management. Support flight operations, maintenance, and logistical support for unmanned aerial systems and related equipment. Perform basic safety wire installation, soldering procedures, and acceptance test procedures (ATP). Assist aircraft assemblers with component installation at fuselage and assembly levels; rivet solid and blind rivets. Train less‑experienced assemblers in proper assembly techniques and safe practices. Maintain a clean work area and adhere to 5S standards. Work with industrial chemicals and adhesives such as epoxy, grease, jet fuel, oils, and cleaners; lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds as required. May work extended hours or weekends and infrequent domestic travel for extended periods as assigned. Perform basic RF and electronic assembly tasks, including soldering, crimping, splicing, harness fabrication, and control panel building. Provide input on process improvements and support continuous improvement initiatives. Other duties as assigned by engineering and supervision. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of avionics/aircraft maintenance experience. Strong isolation, troubleshooting, and basic math skills. Ability to read schematics, drawings, and engineering instructions. Proficiency in electronic assembly, soldering, crimping, splicing, harness fabrication, and control panel building. Experience with quality systems, safety protocols, and 5S standards. Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards. Enthusiasm for teamwork and effective communication with peers and supervisors. Preferred Qualifications 4+ or 6+ years of avionics/aircraft maintenance experience. U.S. security clearance or ability to obtain clearance; U.S. citizenship required. Experience with RF principles and troubleshooting of radio frequency systems. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Office, production, manufacturing, and outdoor environments. Ability to stand and sit for long periods; lift up to 50 pounds. Work with industrial chemicals and adhesives; may use hazardous materials and waste. Requires use of hand and power tools, heavy lifting, and work at slightly elevated surfaces. Travel Requirements None. Compensation $27.00 – $36.00 per hour.
