Pediatric Pacu Registered Nurse

Location: Jacksonville, NC

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, Days, from 07:00 to 19:00 including on-call requirements for nights, weekends, and holidays.

Job Description: The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a highly skilled unit responsible for monitoring and caring for patients immediately after surgery. Staff manage patient airways, pain levels, vital signs, and all post-surgical needs before transporting patients back to the normal unit for continued observation. This role requires teamwork with an emphasis on patient safety and satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

• Provide post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients.
• Monitor patients on a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio.
• Manage patient airways, pain levels, and vital signs.
• Transport patients back to the unit after recovery.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure positive patient experiences.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Pediatric experience in the operating room (OR) required.
• One year of main hospital PACU experience required.
• BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications are required.
• Active nursing license in the state of North Carolina or compact state license.
