From unloading trucks and rotating product to assisting customers and keeping the store tidy, your work has a direct impact on the shopping experience our customers count on.If you enjoy staying active, take pride in doing things right, and like being part of a team that keeps things running smoothly, this could be a great fit for you.What You'll DoDeliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and helping them find what they need throughout the storeAssist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and passing along any feedback or requests to the teamUnload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, run overstock on risers, and rotate product to ensure freshnessMonitor for mis-picked items, product outs, and wrong deliveries, and report issues accordinglyOrganize stock for greatest efficiency and clean and restock any damaged itemsTag shelves with overstock in the back room and understock drawersReport new or different items to the scanning coordinator for system inputOperate the register for customer purchases as neededStock supplies including cigarettes, front-end sacks, and department suppliesAssist with outside maintenance including shoveling snow, spreading ice melt, and returning cartsHelp with cleaning throughout the store including registers, restrooms, breakroom, and backroomTrain new day stockers on job duties as neededMaintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policiesAssist in other store areas and take on special projects as neededYou'll receive direction and support from: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Health Wellness Home, Perishables, and Store Operations, Day Stock Manager, and Service ManagersYour SkillsFollow written and verbal instructions with confidenceUse basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentagesCommunicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful wayStay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy store environmentHigh school diploma or equivalent required; up to six months of similar or related experience preferredReporting RelationshipsAccountable and Reports to: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Health Wellness Home, Perishables, and Store Operations, Day Stock Manager, and Service ManagersEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredUp to six months of similar or related work experience preferredPhysical RequirementsAbility to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 100 pounds or more, with or without mechanical assistanceContinuously stand and walk on hard surfaces for extended periodsWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or similar material-handling equipment (required operator certification must be completed prior to independent use)Work in cooler or freezer environments for extended periodsWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades to cut, trim, or grind productWhere applicable to the role, and in accordance with applicable age and legal requirements: operate a cardboard baler or compactorWhere applicable to the role: perform repetitive motions associated with dough mixing, scaling, and proofingAbility to unload, lift, stock, and rotate incoming truck freight and merchandiseWorking EnvironmentThis is a physically demanding, hands-on role performed throughout the store. You may encounter daily exposure to dirt, noise, equipment movement hazards, and cleaning chemicals or solvents, with occasional exposure to temperature extremes and potential electrical shock. The role involves working with and around heavy store equipment.
