ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
Position: Electrical Maintenance Technician
Education / Technical Training
Completed Technical Education in Electrical Technology, Electrotechnics, Electrical/Electronic Technology, or Industrial Automation (preferred).
Required / Preferred Technical Knowledge
Mandatory: OSHA standards regarding the work performed; PLC/HMI and industrial networks; instrumentation; advanced parameterization/diagnostics of variable-frequency drives, soft starters, and servo drives when applicable, electrical commissioning and documentation.
Experience
5 years (preferred) in industrial electrical maintenance and automation, with technical leadership during critical shutdowns.
Professional Experience / Technical Competencies
Solid shop-floor experience with complex electrical and automation diagnostics; installation/commissioning of PLC/HMI/industrial networks; controlled logic changes and standardization (backup, version control, and change records); integration of sensors/actuators and poka-yoke/vision systems when applicable; substation/SEP switching operations only with the required qualification and authorization; work on projects with Engineering/Quality; conducting RCA and team training.
Main Responsibilities
Execute and technically coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective electrical maintenance activities on industrial machinery, equipment, and installations, ensuring safety, high availability, and process stability. Perform advanced diagnostics and interventions in electrical panels and automation systems (PLC/HMI/industrial networks), commission new equipment/installations, and develop automation and poka-yoke improvements/solutions to reduce downtime, losses, and risks, in alignment with Engineering, Production, and Quality and with strict compliance with APT/LOTO and applicable standards.
Lead electrical and automation interventions during critical shutdowns, defining the diagnostic strategy, resources, and safe sequence for return to operation.
Perform preventive/predictive/corrective maintenance on machinery and installations, ensuring reliability and compliance with technical and safety standards.
Diagnose complex failures using diagrams, historical data, measurements, and signal/logic analysis, eliminating root causes and preventing recurrence.
Install, commission, and perform controlled changes to PLC/HMI and industrial networks when authorized, maintaining backups, traceability, and updated documentation.
Parameterize, develop, and implement advanced adjustments to variable-frequency drives and soft starters (and servo drives, when applicable), optimizing performance and protection.
Design/implement improvements to electrical panels and peripherals: modifications, standardization, identification, organization, electrical safety, and failure reduction. Page 3

Develop and implement automation and poka-yoke solutions (including vision/sensors when applicable) to improve quality, productivity, and safety.
Support Engineering/Quality in new processes and equipment introduction: FAT/SAT, try-out, validation, lessons learned, and release to production.
Conduct and lead root cause analyses (RCA/5W2H/Ishikawa) and action plans, monitoring effectiveness and sustainability.
Work on substations/SEP and perform electrical switching operations only when formally qualified and authorized, following procedures and legal requirements.
Provide technical guidance and development to Electrical Technicians I/II and support contractors, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with scope.
Close work orders using the required technical standard (cause, action, parts, time), contributing to maintenance history, indicators, and continuous improvement; maintain 5S and good workplace practices.
