College Ambassador Role The College Ambassador will work at SFUSD focal high schools in collaboration with site staff and Community Based Organization (CBO) partners to support the college-going process and culture, meet with small groups and individual students in completing college applications. College Ambassadors must be recent high school graduates who graduated within the last 4 years and will be enrolled in a local college or university. Duties & Responsibilities Collaborate with CBO advisers to support college and financial aid application workshops. Set up systems to support students attendance at College Centers and/or events. Join meetings focused on collaboration and problem-solving and develop systems to reach all students. Reach out to students’ families to make sure they are included in the college process, including promotion of events like Cash for College Nights and other college-access related events. Support students to meet deadlines and give up-to-date and accurate information to students about the college-going process through classroom push-in support and small group meetings. Spread the word about college-related updates by visiting classes to make announcements and share college-tips from your own experiences. Use technology to support outreach, including updating the school’s website, designing informative print materials, and making videos to better educate our families. Knowledge and Abilities Interpersonal relationship skills. Proficiency with technology tools and online systems, such as Canvas and Google Suite. Knowledge of the college application process. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to Support student needs, which may include individual, small group work and/or whole class support. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Communicate effectively with students and adults both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, families, and others connected to the college-going process. Manage instructions from multiple team members and meet expectations. Work confidentially, with discretion and with appropriate boundaries. Manage time effectively and be punctual for job responsibilities. Adult, 18 years of age or older. Must be enrolled at least part-time in a local college or university (including but not limited to CCSF, SFSU, and CSU EB).
