Basic Job Functions:We are seeking an Automation Engineer who will take ownership over automation and electrical functions at Nucor Towers & Structures Utah (NTSUT).NTSUT will feature state-of-the-art controls, automation, and robotics for advanced steel manufacturing, and the teammate will be responsible for maximizing machine productivity. The teammate must be able to support the integration of robots into custom designed manufacturing cells and fabrication processes.ResponsibilitiesInstall, maintain, and upgrade automation systems at key points in the production processTroubleshoot non-functioning components including servos, sensors, and control componentsProgram and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and robotic systemsAttend automation, robotics, and equipment supplier trainingSafety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or equivalent work experienceDiverse background in PLCs, HMIs, and industrial controlsAbility to travel for training and alignment with the other NTS sitesPreferred Qualifications:Experience with Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and drivesExperience with ABB robotsExperience with IgnitionExperience working in a greenfield environmentNucor is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer – M/F/Disabled/Vets – and a drug – free workplace
