Hospital Billing Specialist I

Completes follow‑up on rejected or returned claims and monitors & reconciles claims submitted to payers daily. Handles confidential information and performs all work in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Oklahoma Heart Hospital. Review and correct warnings, errors, and rejects on paper and electronic claims within 48 hours of import. Ensure all paper claims are generated by 5 PM each weekday evening. Sort and review local printed claims, identifying needed documentation and processing for mail or fax submission; document all actions within 48 hours. Review institutional (research study) claims, identifying claims needing adjustment, attachments or additional information prior to submission. Review and complete or deny with explanation all rebill requests within 72 hours. Qualifications Education: High school diploma; prefer some college. Experience: One year job‑related experience in health care and one year experience related to claim correction and submission. Knowledge of payer rules (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance). Good investigative skills and telephone techniques. Excellent oral and written communication. Proven organizational skills.
