● About Facility:

o Level 1 Trauma Center

o Level III Perinatal Center

o Teaching hospital

o Magnet designated

o Comprehensive stroke center

o Beds: 397

● General Information:

o Rooms: 3 Cath Labs

o Minimum Years of Experience? 2 years Cath Lab experience for RNs and Techs

o Will you accept a first-time traveler? No, for RNs and Techs

● Case Types/Common Diagnoses:

o Procedure labs, Cath and EP

o Cath Lab: Diagnostic/Interventional, LHC/RCH, NSTEMI and STEMI, Impella, IABPs, Rotoblator, CTOs/staged PCI, shockwave, temp pacers, peripheral (legs) diagnostic/intervention, loop recorders

o EP: Micra, pacemaker, AICDs, lead extractions/revisions, generator changes

● Average Daily Case Load:

o 5-15 cases per day

● Skills required:

o RN: moderate sedation with Versed/Fentanyl, critical drip management, monitor/circulate cases, preferred to have experience with all above case types

o Tech: Laser lead extraction, Rotoblator, FFR, IVUS, Impella, IABP (balloon pump), EKOS, pacemaker, scrub and pan table, medrad, groin site management and monitoring

● Support within the Department:

o Charge RN – will be a part of cases

o Receptionist

o Hospitalist/Physician available after hours

o Respiratory Therapy

o Manager/Supervisor

● Technology/Equipment:

o EMR: EPIC

o IV Pump: Alaris

o Med dispensing: Pyxis

o Hemodynamics: Phillips

o PACS: Merge

o Unit Equipment: Phillips c-arm

● Floating: If yes, where?

o None

● Orientation (facility and unit):

o NEO

o 1 day on the unit

● Scheduling:

o Weekend rotation: call only, see below

o On call? Yes, for RNs and Techs

▪ Weekends: Call Schedules are in 4-week increments. In a 4-week schedule, there will be 2 shifts needed for weekend coverage: either a Saturday and Sunday together or can be split up but will need a total of 2 weekend shifts in the 4-week schedule.

▪ Weekday: 4-5 additional overnight call shifts per 4-week schedule

▪ 30-minute response time

▪ No sleep room available

o Holiday Expectations: possibility of being on call

o Approval of RTO: up to 7 days

o Shift times: 10h shifts, 0700-1730

o Schedule cycle: Schedule made in 6-week increments. Self-scheduling with manager final approval

o Scrub Color: provided

o Parking: Agency can sign up for parking, which is $47.50 for the month or $23.75 for two weeks. We have plenty of parking. We are also minutes from the CTA Brown line if they decide to use public transportation

● Required Licensure & Certifications:
o RN: BLS, ACLS
o Tech: BLS, ACLS, ARRT – will not accept just RCIS for Techs
