The OB/Gyn Sonographer plays a critical role in women’s healthcare by performing specialized ultrasound imaging to support the diagnosis and monitoring of obstetric and gynecologic conditions. This position requires expertise in ultrasound techniques, thorough knowledge of female reproductive anatomy, and strong communication skills for effective patient interaction and collaboration with physicians. Typically working independently within a moderate patient volume environment, the OB/Gyn Sonographer contributes to accurate diagnoses and quality patient care with opportunities for advancement to lead sonographer roles.

Responsibilities

• Perform ultrasound imaging specific to obstetrics and gynecology
• Prepare patients for imaging procedures and explain processes clearly
• Analyze images for diagnostic quality and anatomical accuracy
• Generate detailed reports for physician review
• Maintain and calibrate ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal functioning
• Interact compassionately and professionally with patients
• Keep accurate records of examinations and patient data
• Collaborate closely with physicians to support diagnostic and treatment decisions
• Participate in quality assurance activities to maintain high imaging standards
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in diagnostic medical sonography
• Associate's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field
• ARDMS certification in OB/GYN Sonography required
• ARDMS certification in breast sonography preferred
• Proficiency in OB/GYN and breast ultrasound techniques
• Skilled in ultrasound equipment operation
• Thorough anatomical knowledge of the female reproductive system
• Strong patient care and communication skills
• Familiarity with medical terminology and image analysis
• High attention to detail
