Ambulatory Clinic Nurse (RN)-Cardiology

Position Title Ambulatory Clinic Nurse (RN) – Cardiology Days – Full Time – Olathe Medical Pavilion B Overview The Cardiology Nurse provides professional nursing care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation for the comfort and well‑being of patients. Carries out a plan of care specific to unit competencies for the target patient population. Coordinates care delivery through collaboration with all health‑care team providers to ensure safe, effective and quality patient care. Responsibilities Critically evaluate emergency situations and initiate appropriate intervention; collaborate with physician for recommendations to address patient’s problems or questions. Facilitate efficient patient workflow in the clinic setting. Maintain physicians’ patient list and answer consult page; collaborate with other rounding nurses and ARNPs in triage of new admissions, consults and discharges. Assess and evaluate patients for discharge planning; work with care coordinator to facilitate home assessment, home care, medications, education, nutrition and follow‑up. Follow policies/procedures regarding Amiodarone and Coumadin management and follow‑up. Educate patient/family on new medication therapy. Review all labs and x‑ray reports; enter data in the electronic medical record (EMR), report results and physician recommendations to patient as needed. Perform venipunctures and EKGs when necessary. Arrange for follow‑up appointments through central scheduling and CV follow‑up form. Communicate with appropriate outpatient cardiology staff for outpatient management. Support initiatives to meet appropriate length of stay and disease management outcomes; facilitate timely discharge of patients. Perform professional, clinical and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Two or more years of RN experience. Active registered nurse license in good standing – either multi‑state or single‑state, with proof of application as required. Current active multi‑state RN license in the state of residence, or active single‑state RN license in the state of employment, with proof of application. Staff hired prior to 2/1/2024 must obtain a multi‑state RN license from the state of residence by 4/30/2026. Basic Life Support (BLS) Heartsaver certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 14 days of hire.
