Job Location: Raleigh, NC Department: Prestage Poultry Science About the Department NC State’s Prestage Department of Poultry Science (PDPS) is one of six nationally dedicated poultry science departments. The department focuses on interdisciplinary research to solve real‑world problems aligned with the land‑grant mission. Advance the department’s academic, research, and extension programs in alignment with the CALS Growing Our Future Strategic Plan. Recruit, mentor, and retain a high‑impact community of faculty, staff, and students, supporting junior faculty through promotion and tenure. Oversee departmental finances, facilities, and research infrastructure, including the research farms, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability. Work with faculty to increase research support from state, federal, and private foundations and identify additional funding sources. Foster collaborative partnerships with North Carolina commodity groups and stakeholders through relevant research and extension. Establish and maintain an external advisory board representing varied sectors of the poultry, animal health, and allied industries. Advocate for the department’s mission and strategic priorities within CALS, the University, and the broader professional and commercial community. Provide full‑time administrative leadership that is transparent, accountable, and reduces administrative burden on faculty and staff. Establish consistent standards of quality and performance across faculty roles and support pre‑tenure faculty in the promotion and tenure process. Expand and strengthen academic programs across undergraduate and graduate pathways in poultry science and physiology. Other Responsibilities Other duties as assigned. Minimum Education and Experience Ph.D., DVM/Ph.D., or equivalent professional experience for appointment as a tenured professor at NC State. Record of professional achievement in poultry science or allied disciplines. Evidence of leadership, management, and communication skills in complex academic or research environments. Other Required Qualifications Understanding and appreciation of the land‑grant mission. Effective communication with faculty, staff, students, administrators, agencies, NGOs, and the public. Preferred Qualifications None. Required License(s) or Certification(s) Valid NC driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of start.
