Position Overview: Cristo Rey Jesuit College Preparatory School of Houston seeks an experienced, service-oriented IT Systems Administrator to support the technology needs of our students, faculty, and staff and help maintain the school’s technology infrastructure.

This position combines hands-on user support with responsibility for network, cloud, security, classroom, audiovisual, and information systems. Cristo Rey Jesuit operates primarily within the Google Workspace for Education ecosystem and uses PowerSchool as its student information system.

The Systems Administrator will work closely with the Director of Information Technology and will have opportunities to assume increasing responsibility for the school's technology operations, infrastructure, cybersecurity, systems administration, and long-term technology planning.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills with excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgment, curiosity, and the potential to grow into technology leadership. Because technology touches nearly every aspect of school operations, the successful candidate must enjoy solving problems, helping people, and working in a dynamic educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

User Support and Technology Operations

• Serve as a primary point of technical support for faculty, staff, students, and administrators.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, printing, account, and connectivity issues.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, laptops, Chromebooks, printers, classroom technology, and peripheral devices.
• Prepare, deploy, maintain, and track school-owned devices.
• Maintain accurate inventory and documentation of technology assets.
• Provide support for Google Workspace applications, including Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Meet, and related applications.
• Support Windows and other operating systems used by the school.
• Provide patient, professional, and service-oriented assistance to users with varying levels of technical expertise.

Google Workspace Administration

• Assist in the administration of Google Workspace for Education and the Google Admin Console.
• Create and manage user accounts, organizational units, groups, permissions, and access.
• Support Google identity, authentication, security, and multi-factor authentication.
• Manage and troubleshoot Chromebooks and other devices through the Google Admin environment.
• Assist with Google Drive permissions, shared drives, email administration, security settings, and data management.
• Monitor Google Workspace security alerts and assist with investigation and remediation.
• Help establish and maintain best practices for account provisioning, deprovisioning, data retention, sharing, and information security.

PowerSchool and School Information Systems

• Provide technical support for PowerSchool and other educational technology platforms used by the school.
• Work with academic and administrative personnel to troubleshoot PowerSchool access, user accounts, permissions, integrations, and technical issues.
• Assist in maintaining reliable data flow and integrations between PowerSchool and other school technology systems.
• Coordinate with PowerSchool support and other vendors when issues require external assistance.
• Help maintain appropriate security and access controls for student and school information.
• Develop an understanding of the school's major academic, administrative, admissions, financial, HR, and student information systems and how those systems interact.

Network and Infrastructure

• Assist in administering and maintaining the school's wired and wireless network infrastructure.
• Support switches, wireless access points, VLANs, firewalls, internet connectivity, DNS, DHCP, and related network services.
• Monitor network and system performance and troubleshoot outages and performance issues.
• Support servers, virtualized environments, storage, backup, and recovery systems where applicable.
• Assist with user authentication, permissions, directory services, and access controls.
• Maintain clear documentation of network configurations, systems, equipment, licenses, warranties, vendors, and technology procedures.
• Work with technology vendors and service providers to troubleshoot problems and implement new systems.

Cybersecurity and Data Protection

• Assist in developing and maintaining the school's cybersecurity program.
• Monitor security alerts and assist in responding to potential security incidents.
• Support multi-factor authentication, endpoint protection, email security, content filtering, patch management, access controls, and other security systems.
• Assist with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
• Help protect sensitive student, employee, financial, and institutional information.
• Educate faculty and staff regarding phishing, password security, data protection, and responsible technology use.
• Remain current on emerging cybersecurity threats and recommended practices for K–12 educational institutions.

Classroom, A/V, and Campus Technology

• Support classroom instructional technology, displays, projectors, audiovisual equipment, and related systems.
• Provide technology support for school assemblies, presentations, meetings, performances, and special events.
• Support campus phone, paging, digital signage, surveillance, access-control, and other network-connected systems in coordination with appropriate departments and vendors.
• Assist with technology planning and implementation for renovations, construction projects, and new facilities.

Technology Planning and Leadership Development

• Work closely with the Director of Information Technology to develop a comprehensive understanding of the school's technology environment and operations.
• Participate in technology budgeting, purchasing, vendor management, contract evaluation, lifecycle planning, and infrastructure decisions.
• Manage selected technology projects from planning through implementation.
• Identify opportunities to improve reliability, cybersecurity, efficiency, integration, and the user experience.
• Help develop and maintain technology policies, procedures, documentation, standards, and disaster-recovery plans.
• Develop increasing expertise in the school's major technology platforms and their integrations.
• Assume increasing responsibility for technology operations and projects as experience and demonstrated capability grow.
• Develop the technical, operational, financial, project-management, and leadership skills necessary for future technology leadership.
• Serve as a trusted technology resource to school leadership and departments across the institution.

Qualifications

Required

• Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, networking, user accounts, and cloud-based systems.
• Experience supporting Google Workspace or another enterprise cloud productivity environment.
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, switching, wireless networking, and VLANs.
• Experience supporting computers, Chromebooks, or other endpoint devices.
• Understanding of identity management, permissions, authentication, and information security.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to organize priorities, document work, and independently solve problems.
• Ability and willingness to provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
• Ability to lift and move technology equipment as reasonably required.
• Commitment to supporting the Catholic and Jesuit mission of Cristo Rey Jesuit.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
• Experience administering Google Workspace for Education and Google Admin Console .
• Experience with PowerSchool or another K–12 student information system .
• Experience managing Chromebooks or other devices in an enterprise or educational environment.
• Experience with enterprise wireless networks, managed switches, firewalls, and network security.
• Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Linux, or other server environments.
• Experience with virtualization technologies.
• Experience with endpoint management, backup, and disaster-recovery systems.
• Experience with cybersecurity tools and practices.
• Experience supporting audiovisual, phone, surveillance, access-control, or digital-signage systems.
• Relevant Google, CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, cybersecurity, or networking certifications.
• Previous experience in a school, nonprofit, or similarly mission-driven organization.
