General Anesthesiology

Northwestern Medicine, a premier integrated academic health system affiliated with Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, is seeking a General Anesthesiologist to join the team at Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital.

This opportunity offers a clinically engaging, higher-acuity practice within a well-supported community hospital setting, combined with the resources, reputation, and system-wide integration of a leading academic health system.

Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital is a 143-bed, Level II trauma center and a regional destination for cardiovascular and cancer care. The hospital is home to the only open-heart surgery program in McHenry County and offers advanced cardiac procedures, including TAVR, along with a broad range of complex surgical services.

Opportunity Highlights

• Competitive Northwestern Medicine compensation with opportunities for additional income
• Practice in a higher-acuity environment with diverse and complex cases
• Case mix includes cardiovascular, thoracic, vascular, neurosurgery, orthopedics, urology, and trauma
• Strong exposure to NORA cases, including GI, interventional GI, pulmonology, and pain procedures
• Approximately 10 anesthetizing locations with steady daily volume (13–17 cases/day)
• Primarily independent practice model with minimal supervision
• Opportunity to practice at a site that may transition to an MD-only model
• Established team with strong clinical support and system integration

Practice Details

• Weekday schedule typically 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Current staffing model includes MDs and CRNAs, with recruitment underway for additional anesthesiologists
• McHenry serves as a higher-acuity hub within the region, complementing nearby Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital
