Job Description Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) Physicians and Surgeons Are you a Physician or Surgeon who thrives under pressure and has a heart for sharing the love of Christ with those who are hurting? Samaritans Purse is seeking medical professionals to serve on our Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) . The Samaritans Purse DART program is committed to meeting the critical needs of victims of war, poverty, famine, disease, and natural disaster. We stand ready to respond at a moments notice whenever and wherever disaster strikes. The DART specializes in providing water, food, shelter, and medical care while sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. As deployments occur with little or no warning, DART members must have a flexible schedule and availability to deploy. DART members can be deployed to dangerous places, the living conditions can be challenging and the work days long and hard. However, Samaritans Purse believes in being the first on the ground in order to serve and help those who have suffered through a catastrophic event in the name of Jesus Christ. How Serving On The DART Roster Works DART members are contracted on-call employees. Their pay is activated when they are deployed to a response. Practically, this means that they have careers and life circumstances separate from DART, but when Samaritans Purse initiates a response, we call available DART members to respond and deploy. While a DART member is deployed, Samaritans Purse provides compensation and covers their response-related living and travel costs. We Are Currently Actively Recruiting The Following Roles Orthopedic Surgeon - The Orthopedic Surgeon is responsible for providing pre-op, surgical, and post-op care to patients requiring treatment of the musculoskeletal system. This includes trauma patients in an emergency setting. Trauma/General Surgeon - The Trauma/General Surgeon is responsible for providing pre-op, surgical, and post-op care to patients undergoing surgical treatment that does not require a specialty provider. This may include care of trauma patients in an emergency setting. Emergency Medicine Physician - The Emergency Medicine Physician is responsible for providing clinical care to patients in emergency and triage settings, during an international DART medical response. This may include care of patients in a fast-paced hospital or an outpatient setting. Critical Care Physician - The Critical Care Physician is responsible for providing clinical care to patients in severe or unstable condition during an international DART medical response. This may include care of ICU-level patients in a hospital or specialized programs such as Respiratory Care Units. Internal Medicine Physician - The Internal Medicine Physician is responsible for providing clinical care to patients of all ages during an international DART medical response. This may include care of patients in a fast-paced hospital, an outpatient, or a mobile medical setting. OB/GYN - The OB/GYN is responsible for the initial evaluation of a pregnant patient, and ongoing medical evaluation of OB patients through their discharge during an international DART medical response. The OB/GYN will provide routine antenatal care and treatment of women of childbearing age presenting with gynecological concerns. Pediatrician - The Pediatrician is responsible for providing clinical care to pediatric patients in both out-patient clinics and in-patient hospital settings during an international DART medical response. This may include care of pediatric trauma patients in an emergency setting. Anesthesiologist - The Anesthesia Provider is responsible for providing respiratory and anesthesia care to pre-op, surgical, and post-op patients undergoing surgical treatment. This may include care of trauma patients in an emergency setting. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must maintain a personal relationship with and be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, as well as able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ Post-resident with a minimum of two years experience as a physician in a specialty setting is required (time spent in residency counts toward minimum requirement) Relevant clinical experience in specific field of practice within the last five years is required Completion of accredited training as a physician specializing in relevant specialty. Current active U.S. licensure is required. Applicants licensed in a Samaritan's Purse Affiliate Office location will be reviewed by the appropriate hiring team upon completion of the application. Available on short notice for immediate 3-4 week deployment, 1-2 times/year Able to serve within a very fast-paced environment, 7 days/week for extended hours while on deployment Able to work as a member of a team, particularly cross-culturally Demonstrated travel, volunteer or work experience in developing countries Willingness to work in unstable, insecure areas Teaching experience desirable, but not required Job Location : International Type (Full-Time/Part-Time/Associate) : Intermittent (On-Call) Restrictions (Accompanied/Non-Accompanied) : Non-Accompanied Language : Fluency in English #J-18808-Ljbffr
