The Project Specialist 2—Project Manager—will plan, coordinate, direct, and execute all day to day project activities according to set timelines and budget milestones. The manager will be responsible for safe, on time, and on budget completion of all project activities while being held accountable for project level profit and loss and schedule elements. The PM reports directly to the Director of Projects in B&W (USA). This position requires a proactive approach in the proposal and costing phase of the project, working in concert with the Proposal/Estimating group. It is instrumental in winning projects, balancing margin maintenance or increase, and keeping safety and quality at the forefront. Responsibilities Works with Project Developer(s) and Sales with respect to technical and commercial strategy. Sets and communicates the following: scope of supply, division of work, project execution plan, cost, and schedule. Leads cost evaluation and scrubbing activities along with Proposal Approval Request meetings, presenting the entire opportunity for management’s approval. Writing and producing best in class proposal documents under the coaching of a senior proposal manager. Ensures the smooth transition of all information and documentation to the project team upon contract award in accordance with company policy and procedures. Produces budgetary and offer to sell proposals in accordance with company guidelines, policies & procedures. Maintains proposal project information in Salesforce.com. Interfaces with B&W Sales and customers during bid phase. Reviews and interprets customer specifications, prepares exceptions and clarifications while maintaining B&W’s competitive advantage. Engages in research of past and legacy projects via an array of B&W business systems and archives to develop solutions and technical offerings. Develops initial Project Execution Plans and Price Approval Request (PAR) documentation including technical and commercial risk assessment for presentation to management. Leads PAR meetings and provides management with updates. Works with the appropriate departments to develop the details of B&W’s technical and commercial offers including Engineering, Legal, Supply Chain, Project Management, Business Units, and other groups as necessary. Obtains approvals for pricing, commercial and technical positions, reviewing risks/opportunities from the Business Units. Develops and maintains formal communications, adequate documentation, and records of the project. Communicates project status and provides necessary escalations to management. Addresses, advises, and assists with critical issues related to projects within area of responsibility. Utilizes extensive B&W knowledge to produce quality proposals. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technology, or business management preferred or equivalent experience in lieu of degree. 8+ years technical experience in the power generation field with knowledge of power plants and steam creation side of the process. In office preferred but open to hybrid. Knowledge of boilers firing various fuels (coal, oil, natural gas) along with industrial process recovery, and auxiliary systems preferred. Proficient in proposal management with an emphasis on building commercial skills and developing best in class proposal packages. Knowledge and understanding of package boiler products and systems. Familiarity with commercial contracting and B&W contracting guidelines. Technical background in utility and/or heavy industrial industries. Technical design and graphics skills is a plus.
