As a Backend Software Engineer on the Snapdragon Guardian / Compute Sentra team, you will help build the cloud services that power out-of-band device management and IoT security for our customers' fleets — designing, developing, and validating the microservices, APIs, and event pipelines that keep devices secure, discoverable, and manageable at scale.This is an entry-level role ideal for a recent graduate or early-career engineer who wants to grow their backend skills on a modern, cloud-native platform alongside experienced engineers.Minimum Qualifications:B.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).Foundational programming experience in an object-oriented language (Java, Kotlin, C#, or similar), through coursework, internships, or personal projects.Familiarity with relational databases and SQL fundamentals.Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Fluent English.Must be able to work on-site in San Diego, CA.Preferred Qualifications — What you will bring:Exposure to server-side frameworks such as Spring / Spring Boot (Java) or equivalents (Flask, FastAPI,.NET).Understanding of REST API design and fundamentals.Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.Basic understanding of microservices architecture.Any exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).Nice to Haves:Excellent problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn.Any exposure to working with AI coding assistants such as Claude or Codex.Coursework or projects involving distributed systems, messaging (Kafka), or event-driven design.Familiarity with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.Exposure to containers and Kubernetes (Docker, k8s).Awareness of Clean Code, SOLID, and sound software engineering practices.Interest in IoT, device management, or security.Qualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
