Biometrics (Fingerprint) Technician - Part Time

This is an opportunity to work with the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) in meeting the mission of administering the nation’s lawful immigration system. As a Biometric Technician (BT), you will support the mission of a government program located in Bronx, NY and assist the USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) operations. Amentum provides training for qualified candidates. This is a part‑time team member position, scheduled for 20 hours a week Monday-Friday 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. with flexibility as needed for coverage. Primary Responsibilities Complete biometrics registration for applicants seeking legal immigration to the United States. Ensure all entrants are approved applicants or visitors and enforce ASC rules and policies. Provide front‑line customer service representing Amentum and the U.S. Government. Manage crowd control using barriers (stanchions or rails) and perform visual inspections of applicants and belongings. Screen applicants for valid appointment notices and identification; decline entry during health crises as required. Conduct periodic facility checks and report concerns to the Site Supervisor. Assist the Site Supervisor and, if needed, call local law enforcement or first responders. Maintain accurate administrative paperwork: tracking processing times, reconciliation of captured biometrics, visitor control log, and facility check sign‑offs. Safeguard areas where Personal Identifiable Information (PII) is vulnerable, including paperwork, IDs, electronic biometric data, and reports. Highlights of Responsibilities Provide applicants with the highest level of customer service, displaying a cheerful and inviting demeanor. Safely manage applicants with sensitivity, courtesy, and respect as a USCIS ASC customer. Maintain and secure areas containing PII. Perform quality biometrics processing within established program‑wide processing times. Respond to health crises by assessing applicant illness status and refusing entry if necessary. Required Qualifications Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization; U.S. citizenship is required for this location. A High School Diploma or equivalent. Must speak and write in English. Ability to stand upright for the duration of the scheduled shift (excluding meals and breaks). Ability to hold and grasp applicant’s hands to obtain quality fingerprints. Ability to work in a high‑paced environment with the public. Basic computer and typing skills. Successful completion of biometrics training and certification within sixty days. Desired Skills Ability to speak a foreign language.
