About the Position

Job Opportunity – Medical/Surgical Float Pool Registered Nurse – Pennsylvania

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Location: Allentown, Pennsylvania

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Float pool position with flexibility across multiple units including Medical/Surgical, Progressive Care, and Rehabilitation. Patient ratios range from 1:5 to 1:7. Every other weekend requirement with holiday rotation. 36 hours of orientation provided.

• Work with adult and geriatric patient populations with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including PT, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Epic charting system utilized facility-wide
• Opportunity to maintain and expand critical care skills with preferred SICU experience
• Supported by comprehensive services including phlebotomy, radiology, social services, and unit secretaries
• Ability to interpret telemetry required for unit monitoring

Requirements:

• Active Pennsylvania or Compact state RN license required at time of application
• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Surgical Intensive Care Unit experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with patient ratios of 5-7 patients
• Community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
• Must be willing to float across assigned campus units
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Pennsylvania fingerprinting and background clearance required

Clinical Skills:

Candidates should demonstrate competency in a wide range of clinical skills including but not limited to: blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, interpretation of dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases, wound care/wound vac, tracheostomy care, IV insulin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, port access and management, pre/post surgical care including neurosurgery and thoracic surgery, and management of complex patients including CVA, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and renal failure.
