Biomedical Engineer - Laboratory

Job Summary The Biomedical Engineer plans, trains others, and installs, maintains, and repairs sophisticated medical equipment and systems utilized in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients. Essential Responsibilities Perform all phases of scheduled and corrective repairs of biomedical equipment and medical systems under supervision. Perform pre-issue and asset accounting, equipment installation and de-installation as needed. Conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections, maintenance, and electrical safety tests to maintain code compliance. Document the results of all inspections, maintenance, and tests. Collaborate with all biomedical engineering specialties, KPIT, business partners, and OEM representatives. Complete applicable documentation of all work performed in a timely manner. Travel frequently for Shared Services/Support biomed engineers and occasionally for Stationary Service Area Support engineers to provide service support to other sites. Travel to attend technical training. Perform after‑hours work on a scheduled and non‑scheduled basis as required. Be assigned to weekday and weekend on‑call schedule to perform emergency service. Keep supplied communication devices ON during duty hours. Qualifications Minimum four (4) years of formal and/or on‑the‑job training in biomedical engineering or related field. High School Diploma or GED; Associates degree in electronics, physics, or related science preferred. Driver's License (California) with a good driving record. Experience and working knowledge of medical equipment and systems in general instrumentation or the specialty area assigned. Willingness to work extended hours and operate PCs with Windows operating systems. Additional Requirements Must have good driving record; must be proficient operating PCs with Windows operating systems; must be willing to work extended hours. Location & Schedule Primary Location: California, Berkeley – Berkeley Biomedical Engineering. 40 hours per week, full time, day shift, Monday to Friday, 08:00 AM to 04:30 PM.
