Asset Protection Specialist

Location: Twin Cities, MN Purpose: The Asset Protection Specialist will work in high shrink locations to conduct surveillance and investigations into internal theft/fraud and/or vendor fraud as directed by the District Asset Protection Manager. They will monitor and analyze inventory and shrink reports to identify theft or fraud, and partner with leadership to develop strategies. The Specialist will witness or conduct associate interviews and appear in court as needed. Once a location is no longer high risk, they will be assigned to another high shrink location. Job Responsibilities Serve as a CCTV expert, conduct surveillance, document unusual activity, and gather patterns on potential internal theft/fraud situations. Analyze data to identify patterns and partner with leadership to develop strategies. Conduct investigations into suspected theft or fraud, including general loss interviews, vendor surveillance, cash over/short investigations as directed. Work closely with AP auditor and AP ORC Investigator to determine any internal connections to external or vendor crimes. At the conclusion of an investigation, properly document all steps in the case reporting system; prepare video and documentary evidence sufficient for law enforcement and court proceedings. Perform other relevant job duties as required. Qualifications Education, certifications, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Preferred certifications: Wicklander/Zulawski Interviewing and Interrogation, LP Foundation LPQ or LPC certification. 2 years Asset Protection experience preferred. Familiarity with CCTV system operation. Experience with case report writing preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to identify trends through report analysis. Well organized. Creative and self‑motivated. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Skilled with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Good judgment, especially when direct supervision is not immediately available. Physical Environment / Demands Travel 30%–50% required, occasional overnight trips. Work primarily in a temperature‑controlled office environment. Incumbent may sit for long periods at a desk or computer terminal. Regular use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. Use of calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment in a normal workday. Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required. Vision abilities required: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
