Department: 37700 Advocate Christ Medical Center - Administration: Surgery Status: Part time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 24 Schedule Details/Additional Information: Part time, day shift, schedule to be determined (Monday through Friday) Pay Range: $38.20 - $57.30 Major Responsibilities Perform surveillance for infections utilizing approved definitions/methods and provide analysis/feedback using principles of continuous quality improvement (CQI), incorporating the latest evidence‑based standards. Collect, enter, and analyze infection data from multiple sources (patient medical records, mainframe, MIDAS, laboratory, admission lists, communications with associates, microbiology data, etc.) while maintaining HIPAA regulations. Conduct physical rounding in assigned Surgical Services areas to detect compliance with infection control measures and identify potentially unsafe practices. Monitor patient care activities to identify methods, techniques, equipment, supplies or products that present an infection risk. Develop and review departmental policies and procedures related to infection control. Provide infection control education to associates within Surgical Services and the community using current media resources. Review and disseminate current infection control information to appropriate individuals and departments. Offer formal and informal education on infection control topics to associates based on identified needs, especially environmental issues. Provide infection control expertise in product evaluation, assessing a product’s ability to prevent infection through literature review and user communication. Participate in other committees as requested and provide infection control input. Act as a resource to the Occupational Health Center in infection control matters, answering questions and providing appropriate literature. Report communicable diseases as required by law to the health department via phone, fax, or mail according to Illinois statutes. Assist in policy formation for the Occupational Health Center. Conduct and monitor clinical epidemiology research programs for nursing, medical staff, and ancillary departments. Conduct comprehensive research on infection control topics and serve as a resource for those wishing to conduct research. Participate in clinical CQI projects related to infection control and performance improvement. Complete required contact hours based on FTE status within the allotted timeframe. Exhibit the highest degree of customer service as outlined in Behaviors of Excellence, including demonstrating excellent service performance, maintaining professional demeanor, and promoting patient safety through reporting and participation in safety initiatives. Licensure Registered Nurse (RN) Education/Experience Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Health Sciences, Public Health, Epidemiology, and/or Biostatistics.
• 5 years clinical experience in an acute care setting or laboratory setting without prior infection control experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Basic computer skills, including spreadsheets, word processing, and graphics. Ability to document occurrences in charts and communicate with large audiences, associates, patients, and families. Basic clinical knowledge of CQI, research design, data collection, and biostatistics. Current RN license in the State of Illinois. Certification in infection control obtained within the last five years. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Must be able to work under stressful conditions, remain flexible, and be available on 24‑hour call in emergencies.
