Travel CVOR RN Job Details

• Contract Duration: 13 weeks, ending February 15, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,700–$2,840
• Schedule: Five 8-hour day shifts per week
• Shift: 6:15 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.; approximately 40 hours per week
• Call: Approximately 1–2 nights per week with rotating weekend call coverage
• Clinical Setting: Acute care hospital with Level I trauma, teaching, and Magnet-designated experience
• Department Overview: Four operating rooms with an average daily census of approximately 10 cases
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
• Documentation: Cerner
• Orientation: Approximately 8 hours, with required pre-start learning modules

CVOR Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license in hand at the time of submission
• At least 1 year of recent operating room nursing experience; 3 years of solid CVOR experience is strongly preferred
• Strong cardiovascular, vascular, thoracic, and general operating room experience; candidates with less CVOR experience may be considered with substantial trauma or major OR experience
• BLS certification required from AHA or Red Cross; ACLS certification preferred
• Teaching hospital and Level II or higher trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience preferred
• Experience with cardiovascular procedures such as CABG, aortic aneurysm repair, valve replacement, MAZE, TAVR, ECMO, IABP, LVAD/RVAD, femoral cannulation, PDA repair, and pericardial window
• Experience with vascular procedures such as carotid endarterectomy, AV fistula repair, atherectomy, endovascular aneurysm repair, and femoral-popliteal bypass
• Experience with thoracic procedures such as thoracotomy, VATS, lobectomy, mediastinoscopy, and bronchoscopy
• Whipple procedure experience required
• Proficiency with specimen handling and labeling, laser safety, and Universal Protocol/time-out procedures
• Ability to participate in required call coverage and float within scope to support operational needs

CVOR RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, skilled perioperative nursing care for complex cardiovascular, thoracic, vascular, general, and endoscopic procedures
• Scrub and support cardiac, vascular, thoracic, general, and endoscopic surgical cases according to department standards
• Prepare operating rooms, equipment, supplies, and specialty instrumentation for scheduled and emergent procedures
• Support procedures including CABG, valve replacement, TAVR, aortic repair, vascular bypass, thoracotomy, VATS, bronchoscopy, and Whipple surgery
• Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique, surgical safety protocols, specimen management, and time-out procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, perfusionists, and interdisciplinary team members to promote efficient patient care
• Monitor patient safety throughout the perioperative experience and respond effectively to changing clinical needs
• Participate in rotating night and weekend call coverage and float within the appropriate scope of practice when needed
