Position Details

Location: San Antonio, TX

Unit: Surgical Unit

Classification: RN-M/S

Shift Details:

• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Shift/Workdays: 7A-7:30P / 7P-7:30A
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• Call Requirements: No
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Unit Specifics

• Number of Beds: 40
• Patient Ratios: 1:5/6

  • 1 Unit Clerk on day shift
  • 3 Patient Care Assistants on day shift
  • 2-3 Patient Care Assistants on night shift
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Floating Policy: As needed

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• Current BLS certification
• At least 2+ years of experience as a Medical-Surgical RN
• Proficiency in Meditech charting
• IV peripheral line insertion and care
• Central line care
• Care for tubes and drains (NG, JP, chest tube)
• Ostomy care
• Insertion and care of Foley catheter

Preferred Skills:

• Tracheostomy care
• Wound vac management and large dressing changes
• 3-way bladder irrigation
• Patient education and communication

Licensure

Applicants must possess a valid Texas RN license. Temporary licenses are not accepted.

Dress Code

• Scrub Color: Navy scrub top and pants, navy or white scrub jacket
• Nail Policy: No acrylic nails, nails must be clean and properly maintained (no chipped polish)
• Hair: Off shoulders and in natural color
• Tattoos: Should be covered whenever possible; visible tattoos will be addressed individually
• Piercings: Only earrings are permitted; other visible piercings are prohibited

Two positions are available. All candidates must be willing to float as necessary. Please familiarize yourself with the hospital's policies regarding attendance and floating guidelines.
