Registered Nurse - Cardiology - Per Diem Days

Position Overview The Registered Nurse functions as a caregiver for a specific patient population to achieve desired outcomes. The role focuses on expanding knowledge, providing direct and effective care as part of an interdisciplinary team, overseeing care provided by other caregivers, and coordinating patient care and unit activities among nursing peers, physicians, and support services. Responsibilities Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation. Perform age‑ and disease‑specific assessment and data collection independently, focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive status. Recognize clinical and diagnostic changes in patient status. Identify variables in patient/family education needs based on age, disease, and culturally specific learning differences. Develop a plan of care prescribing strategies and interventions to attain expected outcomes. Formulate age‑ and disease‑specific patient/family‑centered goals and outcomes based on assessment data. Develop and coordinate a patient/family‑focused, prioritized plan of care encompassing the continuum of care. Communicate, coordinate, and implement the plan of care. Provide ongoing communication with patient/family, nursing colleagues, and other members of the health‑care team regarding status, care rendered, and treatment plans. Implement age‑ and disease‑specific care in an organized and timely manner. Provide or coordinate patient/family education as needed and ensure understanding. Perform according to established protocols in clinical situations, including communication with appropriate persons and documentation of events. Provide nursing care and treatments that reflect patients’ needs, advocate appropriately, and demonstrate evidence‑based practice and compliance with standards. Perform continuous point‑of‑care electronic documentation of each patient’s assessments, plan of care, interventions, and evaluation of rendered care. Administer medication utilizing bar‑scanning and documentation technologies designed to ensure safe delivery. Participate in multidisciplinary discharge planning to ensure safe transition and continuity of care. Evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes. Use critical thinking skills based on nursing knowledge to achieve desired patient outcomes. Initiate interventions related to changes in patient condition and unexpected responses to care. Identify ethical issues in the practice setting and bring them to the attention of other team members. Recognize and respond to opportunities to enhance patient satisfaction. Maintain competencies, certifications, and continuing education to meet accreditation and licensing requirements. Adhere to the American Nurses Association Code for Nurses with Interpretive Statements. Lifts a minimum of 35 lbs, pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs, and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day. Adhere to HMH’s organizational and managerial competencies and standards of behavior. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of an Associate in Nursing or Nursing Diploma. BSN in progress and/or willing to acquire within three years of hire. Current and valid Registered Nurse license to work at the assigned HMH location by hire date. BLS/CPR certification by the American Heart Association required within 60 days of hire. At least six months of relevant nursing experience OR active participant in Hackensack Meridian Health’s Nurse Residency Program. Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs; strong sense of accountability; teamwork focus; dedication to ongoing education; and passion to deliver highest quality care. National certification in area of specialty preferred when eligible. Compensation Compensation is determined based on market data, experience, education and certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and budget considerations: Labor market data used to benchmark compensation. Years of relevant work experience considered. Level of education and specialized certifications considered. Demonstrated proficiency in relevant skills and competencies considered. Cost of living and market rates for the specific location considered. Internal equity ensures consistency with compensation ranges for similar roles. Departmental budgets and grant funding may impact pay. Some positions may also be eligible for performance‑based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts. Benefits In addition to full‑time and part‑time (20+ hours per week) positions, HMH offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
